The real cure for heart disease

OK, so I heard a pointless piece of news on the TV today. Apparently a new study shows that people who don’t brush their teeth regularly are 78% more likely to suffer from heart disease.

Seriously, where do they come up with this nonsense? I’ll tell you what they do. They ask perhaps a hundred people how many times a day they brush their teeth. To keep some sort of equality, they will ask 50 men and 50 women. 25 of the men will be fat and the other 25 fit and healthy. The same for the women. The majority of the fat people asked will admit to not brushing their teeth as regularly and, because they are also fat, are more likely to suffer from heart disease.

This does not mean there is a direct correlation between teeth brushing and heart disease. All it tells us is that fat people are lazy. That is why they are fat in the first place!
